The Pros and Cons of Mandated Health Insurance…and How Investors Can Profit

Unknown Filed Under: Label:
new health care bill pros and cons - The Pros and Cons of Health Insurance mandate ... and how investors can benefit

It is no secret that the costs of healthcare are out of control in this country. On average, now spend more per person on health care food and housing. Insurance premiums are increasing faster than inflation, which hinders economic growth and leaving companies with less money to give raises or hire more workers. While the quality and availability of medical care in the United States remains one of the best in the world, many wonder if we would be better if we adopt a universal government controlled health care system as used in Canada. We have outlined some points that proponents and opponents of the bill argue Health.

Proponents make the following ....

• The number of Americans without insurance has risen to over 40 million

! Warning of health has become increasingly unaffordable for businesses and individuals

· We can eliminate the inefficiencies of paper waste such as duplicate work, the claim approval, insurance submission, etc.

· Free medical services to encourage patients to practice preventive medicine and consulting on the initial problems when treatment has currently, patients often avoid physicals and other preventive measures, due to cost.

Meanwhile, opponents argue ...

· There is no single government agency or division that runs efficiently, do we really want an organization that developed the U.S. Code Tax something as complex as the management of health care?

· "Free" health is not really free since we pay for it with taxes, the cost of health care should be paid for with higher taxes or spending cuts in other areas such as defending the education, etc.

· Profit motives, competition, and individual ingenuity have always led to greater cost control and efficiency.

· Government controlled health care would lead to a decrease in the flexibility of the patients.

· Just because Americans are uninsured does not mean they can not receive health care, nonprofit and government-Hospitals provide services to the uninsured, and it is illegal to deny the emergency medical service due to lack of insurance.

· Government-mandated procedures are likely to reduce doctor flexibility and lead to poor patient care.

· Patients can not control their drug costs and doctor visits if health care is free, therefore, total costs will be several times what they are now.

• The fact that Americans are uninsured does not mean they can not receive health care, nonprofit and government-Hospitals provide services to the uninsured, and it is illegal to deny the emergency medical service due to lack of insurance.

· Government-mandated procedures are likely to reduce doctor flexibility and lead to poor patient care.

· Healthy people take care of themselves have to pay for the burden of those who smoke, are obese, etc.

• A long, painful transition will have taken place involving industry lost jobs, insurance, business closures and the creation of new patient registration.

Loss of private practice options and possible reduced pay may dissuade many would-be doctors from practice.

· Costs of the negligence claim, already soaring, may explode as universal care may expose the government to legal liability and the possibility of suing someone with deep pockets usually invites more lawsuits.

· Government is more likely to pass additional restrictions or increase taxes on snuff, fast food, etc, leading to greater loss of personal freedoms.

· Patient confidentiality may be compromised because the centralized health information is likely to be maintained by the government.

· Equipment for health care, drugs, and services may become rationed by the government. In other words, politics, lifestyle of patients, and philosophical differences from those in power, could determine who gets what.

• Like social security, any government benefit eventually is taken as a "right" by the public, making it politically impossible to eliminate or reduce it later when costs spiral out of control.
